Prehistoric Porn – Some Things Never Change

They say the more things change, the more they stay the same. Several discoveries in the world of ancient anthropology have proven that axiom true even when we look at it over
the course of thousands of years.

Archeologists and anthropologists have been finding examples of ancient porn for many years. The infamous book the Kama Sutra, for example, is thought to have been written sometime between 400 BC and 200 CE. Dating the ancient text has always been a difficult job since it is believed the book is a compendium and was the result of many years of writing from different authors. Today, experts agree it was finally compiled into its current state around the second century making it the old love manual still in use today.

But that doesn’t make it the oldest form of adult entertainment. Long before the advent of paper or even ink, people have been looking for ways to titillate their audience. As it turns out, even cave men wanted to express their sexuality and now we have the proof.

In the late 1980s Chinese archaeologist Wang Binghua discovered a stone carving that depicted an elaborate fertility ritual, though once you hear his descriptions you may have another word for it.

The scene consists of around 100 different figures dancing around and engaging in various sex acts. When the discovery first hit the news it was mostly ignored by mainstream media, but Slate author Mary Mycio was quick to jump on the discovery to bring it to a wider audience. IN her article, Myscio sums up the scene as “Women and men dance in a frenzy around a large ithyphallic bisexual about to penetrate a small hourglass female with an explicit vulva.”

So basically the world’s oldest depiction of a gang bang that would make even Annabel Chong blush.

Kangjiashimenji PetroglyphsThe carving, officially referred to as the Kangjiashimenji Petroglyphs, is thought to have been carved around 1000 BC, making it one of the earliest known images of sex acts. Some experts claim it was a way for the people to commemorate and honour the fertility ritual as a sacred event. Others suspect it’s nothing more than prehistoric Porn Hub.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, a discovery in Brazil shows that these types of carvings weren’t an isolated event. In 2012 archeologists discovered the carving of a small man with a rather large appendage.

The 12 inch carving consists of a crude drawing of a man with a penis roughly the same size of one of his arms. The carving is thought to be roughly 11,000 years old and is also believed to be the earliest depiction of man in the Americas. It’s also thought to be proof that men have been obsessed with penis size pretty much since Day One.

There are similar scenes found on rocks near the same area, many of which feature men with oversized penises alongside pregnant women and even depictions of childbirth. All of this lends some credence to the idea they are connected with some type of fertility rite, but they also imply that the carvings are an early form of pornography. Chances are good they are a little bit of both. On the one hand they are an undeniable record of the sexual habits of a civilization long gone. At the same time, it’s hard to believe that men and women of the time wouldn’t have looked at these images for pleasure as well.

Human sexuality has been a driving force for innovation, change and the arts for generations. As we learn more about the lives and habits of people even from the earliest times we can see that sexuality has always been a powerful force. Once again it proves that not only is there nothing new about overt forms of sexuality, there’s simply nothing new when it comes to how humans find ways to get turned on.
